Scarred But Healed: I look like what I've been through...

Trauma of any sort is a life altering injury to our ability to feel. For Christians, the word of faith is often presented in a way that completely disregards the multidimensional impact that trauma has on a person, whether they are born again or not. The reality is that divorce is a trauma. Especially a divorce after betrayal. Although God hates divorce, God Himself got one. It is an unfortunate possibility for every marriage if not properly stewarded.Trauma impacts us psychologically, physiologically, and spiritually. Certain types of trauma, especially relational trauma (AKA betrayal trauma) can change us forever. More often than not we make acting like "it never happened" the goal. We want to be able to say "I don't look like what I've been through." Such a goal doesn't consider that every experience in our lives has the opportunity to impact us for the better. While moving through healing should be the goal realize that healing is not a final destination. It is a journey. It happens along a spectrum. We are healed and healing simultaneously and a scar is in fact evidence of healing. Though it looks different and In that area it even feels different. It is still the evidence of a healing process.
